Agassiz Fall Fair

What a wonderful kaleidoscope of colours. From the different bands to the belly dancers, from the antique tractors to the firetrucks, the fall fair was a wonderful photo opportunity!

Took a walk all by my lonesome at Minter Gardens this afternoon. Saw some interesting critters, and flowers too of course. Just have to relate a funny little story...an elderly gentleman says to me, "So, you taking pictures of the spiders!?" Obviously making a wee bit of a joke, as we were in the rose garden. I look at him and say, "No, not now, I usually do that in the morning when the dew is on the webs. They are much prettier then." He looked a bit funny at me then says, "I was just joking, but I see you're serious!" After talking to him a bit he commented that I sure like bugs and such. If he only knew what an understatement that is!

As a photographer I never know where I'll find inspiration on any given day or what will draw my attention. I can walk somewhere without my camera and see very little, yet as soon as I get behind the lense it is as though a whole new world appears. Perhaps that's why I'm so interested in macro photography at the moment, there is so much to see when you stop and get close enough to smell the roses.
This first picture of the pink dahlia's is another of Jeremy's pictures. Since winning the photo contest he's taken a bit more of an interest in taking pictures and although I allow him to use my Nikon (under very watchful supervision) I think I'll let him use my old Canon for a while. Yes, I'm a bit protective of my baby!

Thoughout the whole walk at Minter Gardens this week I kept my eyes open for butterflies. There were hundreds of cabbage whites, but not much else until near the end of the walk I spotted this beauty. It stayed just long enough to get a few shots.
